Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
